The last couple of weeks have been interesting, and the lack of stability is making the Joe Rankings more and more interesting. But the top two teams (LSU and Arizona State) are the undisputed Top Two in my rankings. Nobody in the national media has talked about the Sun Devils, who have quietly racked up a 6-0 record. However, we'll see how they manage Cal, USC, Oregon, and the rest of the Pac 10 as their schedule progresses.
Utah had an impressive road victory over Louisville. The Rankings have the Utes at #75 right now, which seems a little low. What has really hurt the Utes is that their opponents haven't performed too well this season, giving them a poor strength of schedule. Their two highlight victories have come over UCLA (who just gave Notre Dame their first victory of the year) and Louisville (who has performed pretty poorly this season; their prestige comes in reputation). Plus, their 27-0 loss to UNLV really hurts them. They should keep things progressing forward against San Diego State at home this week.
BYU dropped a bunch after their bye week, as they obviously didn't get the chance to prove anything on the field of play. Their losses to UCLA and Tulsa are looking worse with each passing week as those two teams play in boneheaded losses. But BYU should maintain their status as Mountain West favorites when they take on UNLV this Saturday.
