The Joe Rankings: Week 5

With my Cougars taking a bye, I decided I'd slack off as well. I apologize for the lack of timeliness, along with the lack of links and analysis. This week, I'll just post the Top 120. REMEMBER, this is not an indication of which team is the best. It is merely an indication of which team has proven the most on the actual field of play.

And instead of putting up a lengthy prediction for tonight's game between Utah and Louisville, this will have to suffice. In a surprisingly low scoring game, the Cardinals eke out a 14-13 victory.

As for last week, I thought Utah's victory over Utah State was just what they needed. A solid victory that didn't make anybody think they were invincible. They were clearly the better team, which gave them confidence. But the last thing they needed--in my opinion--was a 75-0 beatdown of the Aggies to make The Six Pack think they were unbeatable. As it turns out, they are still a bit humble, they realize they still have a lot of work to do, and it will show some dividends in a game tonight that they should win.

BYU's win was underrated. I think most media was unimpressed, but it is not an easy thing to go down and win in Albuquerque. BYU extended their MWC winning streak to ten, and they have the easy part of their schedule coming up. The bye week comes at an opportune time. I think they will come out next week with a solid effort to keep the momentum going.
