Dream Realignment

I, of course, have my theories as to what the best way would be for college football to determine a champion. I think the NCAA should split the 120 teams up into three divisions of 40 teams (four conferences of ten teams in each division).

The top division would look something like this:

Northeast Conference:
1. Boston College
2. Cincinnati
3. Connecticut
4. Michigan
5. Ohio State
6. Penn State
7. Purdue
8. Rutgers
9. West Virginia
10. Wisconsin

East Conference:
1. Clemson
2. Florida
3. Florida State
4. Georgia
5. Louisville
6. South Florida
7. Tennessee
8. Virginia
9. Virginia Tech
10. Wake Forest

South Conference:
1. Alabama
2. Arkansas
3. Auburn
4. Kansas
5. LSU
6. Missouri
7. Oklahoma
8. Texas
9. TCU
10. Texas Tech

West Conference:
1. Arizona State
2. Boise State
3. BYU
4. California
5. Hawaii
6. Nebraska
7. Oregon
8. Oregon State
9. USC
10. Utah

The top two teams from each conference would move on to an eight-team playoff.

The second division would also have four corresponding conferences with ten teams in each one. For example, the West Conference of the second division would have:

1. Air Force
2. Colorado
3. Fresno State
4. Nevada
5. New Mexico
6. Stanford
7. UCLA
8. Washington
9. Washington State
10. Wyoming

The top two teams from the second division get promoted to the top division for the next year. So if UCLA and Air Force are the top two teams from this conference, they get to play in the top division next year. Meanwhile, the bottom two teams from the top division get demoted to the second division.

There is also a third division. In the West, the third division would consist of:
1. Arizona
2. Colorado State
3. Idaho
4. New Mexico State
5. San Diego State
6. San Jose State
7. SMU
8. UNLV
9. Utah State
10. UTEP

The top two teams from the third division get promoted to the second division for the next year, replacing the worst two teams from the second division.
