A look Ahead to Week 12: BYU vs. Wyoming

BYU at Wyoming
Pregame: Coach Joe Glenn takes the field before the game, borrows the referee's microphone, and humbly apologizes to the crowd for his actions the previous game. "I should not have flipped the birdie," he says, tears streaming down his cheeks. "It was juvenile of me. I'd like to apologize to my family, my staff, my players, my cattle, to the University of Utah, and most importantly to you fans. POWDER RIVER LET 'EM BUCK!!" The crowd cheers loudly before resuming their anti-BYU chant for the rest of the game.

The captains take the field, and the Wyoming Cowboys win the coin flip! They elect to defer to the second half.

First Quarter: Joe Glenn attempts an onsides kick to start the game, and BYU narrowly recovers. Coach Glenn, in the heat of the moment, flips the bird to BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall. BYU scores on the first play from scrimmage on a deep pass from Max Hall to Dennis Pitta, then successfully converts a two-point conversion on a fake PAT. "Classless move," writes Salt Lake Tribune writer Gordon Monson the next morning. 8-0 BYU.

BYU scores three more touchdowns in the quarter: a 37-yard interception return by Bryan Kehl; a 21-yard scoring strike from Hall to Austin Collie; and a 16-yard run by Harvey Unga. Add in three more successful two-point conversions, and BYU leads 32-0 after one quarter of play.

Second Quarter: BYU scores four more touchdowns in this quarter: a 1-yard plunge by Hall; a 2-yard plow-in by Manase Tonga; a 17-yard Hall completion to Matt Allen; and a 102-yard kickoff return by Collie after a Wyoming safety. They convert four more two-point conversions. Halftime score: BYU 66, Wyoming 0.

Second Half: In an effort to show class, Mendenhall orders BYU to take a knee on all of their remaining plays for the rest of the game. They don't even punt, instead taking a knee on fourth down deep in their own territory. Wyoming capitalizes with a field goal.

Postgame: Bronco Mendenhall states his reasoning for running up the score in the first half. "Nobody messes with my buddy Kyle Whittingham," he states. "I am fully invested in that friendship, and I wanted to show Coach Glenn a thing or two. This was personal. We are awesome. Thank you."

Final Score: BYU 66, Wyoming 3
Public Reprimands: issued to Joe Glenn
National Recognition: none
